Basargin Hired to Fill Public Works Position

Mark Basargin

The City of Aurora is pleased to announce that it has hired Mark Basargin as its new utility worker. He officially started on Tuesday, August 28.

Basargin grew up in Australia and graduated from high school there. He went straight to work afterwards and did construction with his brothers. Over time, he built up a crew and focused on areas such as sheetrock and framing. One of his projects involved building homes for that nation’s Aborigine community.

In 2011, Basargin moved to the United States and began doing home remodels and renovations. He eventually entered the real estate business.

A Woodburn resident, Basargin is married with a two-year-old son. He met his wife, Anya, when she took a trip to visit Australia in 2011. The two met up again the following year when he came to visit his brother, who has lived in Colton for the last 30 years.

Basargin’s hobbies include fishing, hunting and camping in the great outdoors.

“We’re happy to have Mark join our public works crew,” City Recorder Scott Jorgensen said. “After an extensive hiring process, we determined that his skill sets and experience were the best fit for the position, and think he will serve the citizens of Aurora very well in this role.”
