City Releases Development Process Guideline

The City has released a one-page form aimed at simplifying and clarifying its development process.

Staff felt it has become necessary due to the growing interest in bringing commercial projects to Aurora. The City uses third parties to provide some of its services, including planning, engineering and inspections, and there are also unique requirements for projects being developed in its Historic District.

The form was approved by the Planning Commission and City Council during their February meetings. In tandem, staff has also developed an internal tracking form to improve its processes for handling development applications.

“It has been a goal of staff, as well as Mayor Sallee and the Council, to make it easier to advance projects that will ultimately bring family-wage jobs to Aurora,” City Recorder W. Scott Jorgensen said. “I’m pleased that the Planning Commission and Council have directed staff to make this form available to customers who visit city hall, as well as putting it on the city’s website. I think this will ultimately result in better customer service for anyone hoping to bring a business here.”
