Sheriff’s Office Speed Data from City Hall, Park Main Street Locations Available

Last year, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) set up a radar speed control sign at various intersections around town. That was done in response to citizen requests and concerns about excessive vehicle speeds in some areas. It also allowed the city to collect data, which has been submitted to city officials and the Oregon Department of Transportation.

That speed control sign was recently placed in front of city hall and by the city park.

All of the sets of data collected by the sign are included in PDF form and attached below. Some of the data has been presented in graph form to illustrate the speeds traveled by motorists at different times of the day. It will be made available to the City Council at its February 11 meeting.

The radar speed control sign is now up on Liberty Street, and that data will be made public once it is collected.

The City of Aurora contracts with the MCSO for its law enforcement services. Deputy Bill Ovchinnikov is assigned to the city under that contract.
