PGE to Install Streetlight Near Intersection of Ehlen and Airport Roads

In mid-December, an Aurora resident contacted city staff to request that a streetlight be installed at the intersection of Ehlen and Airport roads.  The resident expressed concern that the lack of a light creates a potential safety hazard for any pedestrians who may be in the area at night.

City staff reached out to a member of PGE’s local government affairs team, and the matter was also brought before the city council at its January 8 meeting.

Councilors agreed by consensus to direct city staff to follow up with PGE to confirm that the city would like a streetlight installed at the intersection. PGE staff subsequently did a site visit and determined that the light could be installed at no cost to the city.

“I’m pleased that the city was able to provide a solution to this very serious citizen concern,” City Recorder W. Scott Jorgensen said. “PGE was easy to work with in this process, and I credit its staff for its efforts in moving this forward.”

Authorization for the work has been granted by city staff and is expected to take place within the next four to six weeks.

“This streetlight installation will provide long-term safety benefits for the residents of Aurora, as well as the tourists and visitors that come here,” Jorgensen said. “I’d like to thank PGE for addressing this issue promptly, as well as the citizen who made the request. It’s important to me that the city be responsive to the wishes and needs of its residents.”
