Fire District Property Purchased by Linen Tablecloth for Use as Corporate Headquarters

A property long owned by the Aurora Fire District recently sold to the Tigard-based firm Linen Tablecloth.

Located at the intersection of Ehlen and Airport roads, the property will become the company’s corporate headquarters and bring up to 50 jobs to Aurora. Of those, 20 will be administrative and around 20 will be customer service representative positions. Linen Tablecloth plans to start a new division devoted to local linen service that should create around a dozen additional jobs.

The family business has been in operation since 2005 and also has a distribution warehouse in Memphis, Tennessee. It currently employs 35 people at its Tigard location. Owner Ron Berrett describes the company as an “online vendor of table linens.”

Berrett said the site will include a showroom for business clients and customers who are planning weddings. A would-be bride will be able to “come in and try our tablescapes to her heart’s content,” Berrett said.

Around half a dozen to a dozen customers visit the company’s current location daily, and “I imagine it would be more with a nicer facility,” Berrett said. “A lot of small businesses come in and want to see our products.”

A separate portion of the new corporate headquarters will include a tasting room, to showcase wine that Berrett grows at his West Linn estate.

Berrett said he chose Aurora as a location because many of his employees live in surrounding communities like Molalla and Canby. He also likes the area, and describes it as the “best of all worlds.”

It will take an estimated six months or a year for the approval process, which Berrett said he plans to start “right away.” Once that is completed, construction of the facility should take around a year.

The project is being developed by the Oregon City-based firm Iselin Architects.

Aurora City Recorder Scott Jorgensen said he looks forward to welcoming Linen Tablecloth to the community.

“The city is absolutely thrilled that a company like Linen Tablecloth would choose to make this their new home,” Jorgensen said. “It will help Aurora diversity its economy, and bring the kinds of family wage jobs that we would like to see here.”
