Historic Review Board
The Historic Review Board, commonly known as HRB, is a five-member body comprised of volunteer citizens. Board members are appointed by the City Council for three year terms. The Board maintains an inventory of the cultural resources, and makes recommendations to the City Council on standards for historic structures. In coordination with the Aurora Colony Historical Society, it promotes preservation of Aurora’s irreplaceable historic resources.
The HRB is the City’s decision maker for a variety of development applications, building permits, and exterior modifications to properties within the historic overlay districts and to cultural resources throughout the City.
The Board meets on the fourth Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm in the Council Chamber at City Hall.
Park Committee
The Parks Committee, is comprised of ____ volunteer citizens serving informally. The Committee oversees the parks and makes recommendation to the City Council on capital maintenance, capital improvements, programming and future development of additional park properties.
The Parks Committee meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm in the Council Chamber at City Hall.

Planning Commission
The Planning Commission is a seven-member body comprised of volunteer citizens, one of whom may reside outside the City limits but within the urban growth boundary. Commissioners are appointed by the City Council for four year terms. The Commission reviews long range planning issues and proposed amendments to the Comprehensive Plan and implementing ordinances. The Planning Commission makes recommendations to the City Council on these issues, based on policies and criteria outlined in the City's Comprehensive Plan and Title 16 of the Municipal Code (regarding Land Development).
The Planning Commission is also the City’s decision maker for a variety of land use applications, including matters referred to the Commission by the Planning Director, interpretations of Title 16, conditional uses, variances, flood hazard zone permits, Type 2 home occupations, site development review for projects subject to the Aurora Historic Guidelines, telecommunications facilities, and appeals of Planning Director decisions.
The Planning Commission meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm in the Council Chamber at City Hall.
Citizens Traffic Commission
Citizens Traffic Commission, commonly known as the Traffic Safety Committee, is comprised of five voting members who are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council for one year terms, one of whom is a City Councilor. It also includes five non-voting ex-officio members, who may include the public works director, police chief, fire chief, or representatives from ODOT and Marion County. The Commission reviews traffic and related safety issues and advises the City Council on these matters. It also promotes safe and efficient transportation and traffic within the City in an effort to reduce accidents and injuries on City streets.
The Citizens Traffic Commission meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm in the Council Chamber at City Hall.
